EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES
THROUGH SPORTS
Hit Poverty for a Six (#HPFAS) is an inspiring initiative born from The Sixes Festival, a renowned two-day event held annually across three South African cities for the past ten years. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavour aims to break down financial barriers and promote inclusivity in sports by providing opportunities for children and adults from historically disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in premium sporting events.

OUR MISSION
We are dedicated to ensuring that every participant can fully engage in the sporting experience without the burden of financial constraints. Our initiative covers entry fees, transportation, meals, and drinks throughout the event, allowing participants to focus solely on their performance and enjoyment.

OUR MISSION
Ryan Christian, Co-Founder of Hit Poverty for a Six (HPFA6), brings over two decades of experience in community fundraising and sports engagement. As the Fundraising Manager for the Masiphumelele Rugby Club and a coach for development rugby and cricket, Ryan’s vision is to create a platform where talented sportsmen and women can be scouted and given the opportunity to “hit poverty for a six” through their athletic abilities.
The festival spans six diverse sporting codes—cricket, hockey, paddle, rugby 7s, golf, and squash—funding the participation of clubs across these sports to foster broader community engagement and inclusivity. Through mentorship and participation opportunities, HPFAS aims to unearth and nurture young talent, with long-term goals of providing school bursaries for promising athletes aged 14 to 18. Success stories include development teams winning their leagues and the lasting positive impact on both participants and their communities.
