Hit Poverty for a Six

Join Us in Empowering Communities Through Sports

Hit Poverty for a Six (#HitPovertyForASix or #HPFAS) is an inspiring initiative born from The Sixes Festival, a renowned two-day event held annually across three South African towns for the past eight years. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) endeavour aims to break down financial barriers and promote inclusivity in sports by providing opportunities for children and adults from historically disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in premium sporting events.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to ensuring that every participant can fully engage in the sporting experience without the burden of financial constraints. Our initiative covers entry fees, transportation, meals, and drinks throughout the event, allowing participants to focus solely on their performance and enjoyment.

Giving back is what the Cape Town Sixes is all about. Our CSR initiative – #HitPovertyForASix will be running various coaching clinics leading up to the main event. The clinics will host children from local communities, where receive coaching tips SA sporting legends.

Various development teams will be invited to take part in the main tournament where they will be exposed to Cape Town Sixes and have the opportunity of meeting and playing with some of the past greats of the game.

Leadership and Vision

Ryan Christian, Co-Founder of Hit Poverty for a Six, brings over two decades of experience in community fundraising and sports engagement. As the Fundraising Manager for the Masiphumelele Rugby Club and a coach for development rugby and cricket, Ryan’s vision is to create a platform where talented sportsmen and women can be scouted and given the chance to “hit poverty for a six” through their athletic prowess.

Diverse Sporting Codes

The festival features six diverse sporting codes: cricket, hockey, paddle, rugby 7’s, golf, and squash. HPFAS funds the participation of clubs in all these codes, fostering broader community engagement and inclusivity.

Talent Development and Community Impact

By providing participation and mentorship opportunities, HPFAS aims to unearth and nurture talent within these communities. Our long-term goals include offering school bursaries for promising athletes aged 14 to 18. Success stories from our program include development teams winning their leagues and the lasting positive impact on participants and their communities.

Sponsorship Opportunities

As we prepare for the upcoming event in Johannesburg this September, we are actively seeking corporate sponsorships to support our cause. Companies can sponsor entire sporting categories or individual teams, with funds covering transport, meals, branded tops, and coaching clinics with South African legends. Sponsors will receive extensive branding opportunities, including:

•Field and stage branding

•Co-branded tops with sponsor and #HPFAS logos

•Online marketing and PR coverage

•Prize-giving representation

•Interviews in the event after-movie

•Personalized video clips around #HPFAS
